Live music and singing are a huge part of Puerto Vallarta’s entertainment scene. In fact, there are more talented singers here than condos! This town is brimming with vocal talent, ranging from solo artists singing to recorded tracks, singer-songwriters, lead vocalists of bands, jazz bands without singers, mariachi performers, and lounge singers.

PVE – Entertainment Fun Facts
Did you know that Puerto Vallarta’s status as an entertainment hub has roots in Hollywood? In 1963, director John Huston put the town on the map by filming The Night of the Iguana here.
There is an interesting Mandela Effect where many people think they remember Elizabeth Taylor being in The Night of the Iguana. She was not. Taylor was in Puerto Vallarta visiting her then-lover (and later husband) Richard Burton, who was starring in the film. But they were in fact both married to other people at the time. While “hiding” here, their presence added to the town’s newfound fame. Burton even purchased Casa Kimberly for Taylor, a home that became a symbol of their scandalous love affair, complete with a pink bridge connecting their properties to outwit the paparazzi.
But it wasn’t until the 1980s that Vallarta began expanding as a tourist destination, and the nightlife exploded. From traditional folk music, inventive cabaret acts, and discos the entertainment scene blossomed. Fun fact: the Shaw sisters (of Cassandra Shaw Jewelry fame) were frequenting clubs here as teens during that era, part of the scene even before the Vallarta nightlife became the well known spectacle it is today!
