Theatre is not just bricks and mortar; it’s a living, breathing community of people. It’s the performers who pour their hearts into their craft, the writers who bring stories to life, and the audience members who come to feel, laugh, cry, and connect. Theatre is about shared experiences, a sacred space where human connection takes center stage.
In Puerto Vallarta, our theatre community is blossoming. Now, more than ever, we need to come together to celebrate art in its most intimate and authentic form: live theatre. And here in Vallarta, we are lucky that theatre doesn’t always require walls—sometimes, it doesn’t even need a roof.

PVE – Entertainment Fun Facts
The History of Modern Theatre in Puerto Vallarta has grown alongside the city’s transformation into more of an international arts destination. In the early days, small cultural centers and makeshift venues offered local performances and community-driven productions. As Vallarta grew, so did its artistic offerings. The 1970s and 1980s marked a turning point with the arrival of expats and artists who brought their love for theatre and a desire to create.
Teatro Vallarta, built in 2010, brought larger-scale productions to the city, offering world-class performances and events. Meanwhile, the city offers something for everyone, from experimental shows in smaller venues like Moonlight Theatre to fully produced plays such as Teatro Sin Borders.
